PERLE HOPS
Perle is the most popular aroma hop in in Germany. They are renowned for their pleasant spicy, herbal, floral flavour profile. Although primarily known for their aroma, Perle hops also provide good bittering characteristics.
Perle is generally perceived as an excellent aroma hop, with aroma characteristics as fine as those of Hallertau Mittlefrüh but with a higher alpha acid.
This variety was bred at the Hop Research Center Hüll and released in 1978.
This high yielding aroma variety is popular with growers, thanks to its resistance to disease. It has a good resistance to Verticillium Wilt and Downy Mildew and average resistance to Powdery Mildew. It is grown in the Hallertau, Spalt, Hersbruck and Baden-Bitburg-Rheinpfalz areas of Southern Germany.
